Stress-free travel to the cycling event of the year? Then it is best to go by bike. Hasselt remains accessible by bike at all times. An additional manned bike parking area is being provided at the finish zone (parking Kapermolen & parking Guffenslaan), close to the official fan zone. From the small city ring road, follow the directions to the bike parking area.

TIP: A signposted cycling route between the start and finish is provided, along the towpath next to the Albert Canal (about 30 minutes cycling). The route starts at the bike parking area.

Do you live too far away to be able to cycle to the European Championships in a single journey? Then park your car in one of the parking areas outside the city centre and use your bike to travel the last few kilometres. PARK & BIKE:

Hasselt station is close to the European Championships course and is within walking distance (only 1,4 km or 19 minutes) of the fan and finish zone. Thus an ideal starting point.

Cities with a direct connection to Hasselt include: Genk, Sint-Truiden, Tongeren, Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Brussels, Bruges, Mechelen and Liège.

On Sunday, SNCB and EK Limburg provide 7 extra trains to and from Hasselt:

  • 2 extra trains to Hasselt from Mol
  • 5 extra trains to go back home: 3 to Gent-Sint-Pieters, 1 to Antwerp-Central and 1 to Mol.

No other option than to come by car? Then bear in mind that your travel time may increase because of the diversions and the crowds. During the European Championships, a number of roads are closed and/or parking is prohibited. Therefore, make use of Waze or Google Maps. Do not rely on your GPS or your knowledge of the area. Looking for a parking space in Hasselt? Then follow the local signage from the main approach roads.

Please make your journeys by car as much as possible before or after the races: Wed 11/9: from 8:00 to 18:00; Thu 12/9 from 11:00 to 17:00; Fri 13/9 from 9:00 to 18:00; Sat 14/9 from 9:00 to 18:00; Sun 15/9 from 9:00 to 18:00.
