We would also like to introduce the youngest ones to the European Cycling Championships. In the children's book 'Billies eerste koers' ("Billie's First Race") European Championships mascots Bob and Billie dive into the wonderful world of cycling. The two deer experience an exciting cycling adventure as they participate in the European Cycling Championships in Limburg. The story can now be downloaded below (Dutch only).

The Story

"Billie's First Race" tells the story of deer Billie, who is eager to participate in the nearby cycling race with her brother Bob. But... suddenly Bob's bike disappears. How could that happen? Join the adventure and find out if Bob makes it to the starting line on time.

For Whom?

The unique European Championships story is written at the reading level of children aged 8 to 9. The children learn something about cycling, the European Championships, and cycling terms such as sprinting, a peloton, or a velodrome. This is done through fantastic illustrations based on Limburg and the course of the 2024 UEC Road European Championships.

The story addresses relevant themes such as safety and helpfulness and conveys a powerful message of equality promoted by the organization EK Limburg 2024: girls can also pursue their dreams and become cyclists, pilots, or doctors. "Billie's First Race" will be distributed to third-grade students in all primary schools in Hasselt and Heusden-Zolder.
